Hate to be the drag, but better get used to paperwork as it is inevitable. Look up the eligibility list now and make a budget, incorporating the goals required into it. Even going slow will eventually get you there, but better to know and work toward it. Treat a savings account as a bill and pay it first, being realistic with how much you can put into it each month. It all adds up.

Also, if you are eligible to join a credit union, that is a better place to get a credit card vs a bank IMO.

I had to consolidate when I refinanced my old house, since I had a line of equity against it. We will pay off the line of equity (which had a SUPER high interest rate), and refinance the main loan at a much lower interest rate. I'm dropping from an 8,5% rate to a 2.5% or 3.0% rate.

I got absolutely nothing on my todo list done!!! Yikes. Ended up babysitting then after that mom asked me to run luggage to my sisters house... 2 hour drive. By the time I got home it was go time with picking up kids, dinner stuff and cleaning realllly fast. Tomorrow will be attempt number two.
