I hope so too!

I'm starting to realize that I've been having "Juliette hatches!" ie, 75% cockerel hatches! Oddly enough, most of them out of the cockerel I got from her.... hmmmm. Maybe she has a male heavy line... ha ha ha

Now if the boys could just not crow, and get along with each other. I had a freak occurrence yesterday, where my shed door blew open, letting out one cockerel, and then another pushed out of his cage. These are both gorgeous boys from Jerry. Well I found them bloody, soaked and shivering in the snow. I patched them up and blow dried them off, and they seem fine. Just a little comb damage. But still not what I had hoped to come home to!

What a couple of little twerps! Maybe they're training for a miniature underground cock fight they didn't tell you about. Don't you wish incubating chicks was like incubating reptiles, you could just set it to a certain temp and know they'd all be what you wanted!

Predator or injured from wiggling out of the cages?

They're injured from getting in a fight. Poor guys. They're all blu-koted. But they're crowing and mating like normal, so they're not too bad. I really think it was just a little comb damage.

What colors did you wind up getting from jerry? Glad they were ok, that could have been bad!

Steph, my friend and I got a few great looking birds from Jerry. We're working together on our little Serama project. And then I took Jerry up his offer of "extra" cockerels a few weeks ago.

SO, from Jerry, in the cockerel department we have a Black, a Blue, a Cuckoo, a Crele, and Gold Hackled Blue. I also have a frizzle Chocolately guy from Juliette, and a mottled guy that I think originated with Picture Perfect Poultry (maybe?) but was given to me. He's a real looker.

From Jerry, in the pullet department we also have 2 blues, one solid chocolate, and one chocolate with white lacing. I have 2 frizzle pullets from Jessi at Bluegrass. My other pullets are from here and there.

I'm sure I'll be parting with some of these cockerels in the spring, after I get a good crop of babies for the next generation. So, Steph, if you need some good new blood... Let me know!

Of course, I've hatched out about 30 chicks from the above birds, with maybe 50 in the incubator, so I'll have lots of other cockerels to rehome too. I'm hoping to hatch a LOT and then pick the best 3 trios and move on from there.
