I would call him spangled.....same with the other rooster from earlier post, the lighting did not show the redness on that bird so I thought he was a mottled. Very nice colored spangled you have there BigB-71!!!!!

Thank you sir . i like him he has a great confidence about him self like a serama should and he loves his ladies he's a good boy.

HI,
I realize this could be put in a different thread...but thought Semera breeders may have some specific feedback.........
Unless there is a miracle, I have lost my second batch of Semara hatching eggs...............Background.I have been hatching for about a year.
Have not had problems once I got through a learning curve.
I was told to hatch these like any other egg. You can assume the normal things were done, setrilizing the inc, calibrating the hydrometer ect.
I ran the temp at 101 (still air) humidity at 35 to 40.(maybe low) and 60 at lock down.
The shipped eggs were in good conditoin with great packing.
Of the 12, 6 looked well developed at day 18
I am heart broken..........
I'll have to figure out if I want to try again,or maybe wait until I have a broody hen.
Most likely will look for a pair to be shipped.................
Thank you for any ideas or feedback.....................
I really enjoy learning about the breed.......

I had a great hatch, my temp was 100 on the top of the eggs, and I made one of those wiggly things (water snake toy that you put a temp probe in) and it said temp was 99.5 inside of the wiggly (approximate in egg temp). My bator does have a fan though. My humidity was 45 - 50%, then as high as I could get it for lockdown 70-75%. I live in the desert though, so my humidity levels might not work for someone else. I think our humidity is like 2%, so dry! I got 24 eggs, 4 were clear or quit, had 14 successfully hatch. I had two that externally started to zip and then tired out ... but I waited to long to help because it was my first time and they died. Then the last 4 ... my DS ran into the plug with the recliner and pulled it out by accident, so the bator was off - no go for them

Now use a different plug, far away from the video game playing chair! I was so sad, I got home from work and they were cold

My DH hadn't even thought to check on them.
I have standard chicks hatching today though, and I think my humidity should have been a little lower for them (couple have just a teeny bit of rough naval, but all are doing well). Didn't have any issues with that with the Serama hatch.
I have two batches of serama eggs due to hatch on 5/25 and 5/27 so we will see how they do.

thank you and good luck.
I upted my humidity to 65 at the end of day 21..23 today.

Bet it was just not high enough.

Jessica is sooo cute! What does the daddy look like? I bred my white silkied boy to my smooth black hen and got two black silkied, two smooth blacks, and one smooth white. I'm sure you'll have babies who look like their mommy.

Congratulations!

Hi,
Thanks, the daddy is black and white. I saw him or her this morning, just a tiny little fuzzy butt. He' black on the top and creamy/white on the bottom half. I think he'll be blk/white.
Unfortunately, I think the other eggs are infertile.
I'll wait for one more day before I remove the eggs.
Photos to come soon when he's ready to see the world.

Hi Thierry,

Congratulations on your new babies....I knew Jessica would do good for you....everyone else..... I recommend buying young laying birds instead of eggs. Doesn't cost that much more and you can see what you're getting. I have several more laying pairs available that I'd like to get shipped before the weather gets too hot. Once it gets hot, I won't be able to ship again until September.

Hi June,
Thank you.
Thank you for the beautiful seramas you sent me.
I saw the little fuzzy butt this morning and hes black on top and white on the bottom. Guess he'll be blk and white.
I think the other eggs are infertile.
