The bird just looks like she's developing chocolate, but I don't know for sure. I do know that choc is a sex-linked diluter of black, so If they have black in them, they aren't chocolate (males can carry the gene, though). I do have several birds that are a really dark brown where I would expect them to be black, such as in chest lacing. If I could hatch better, I could confirm what genetics I have, but I only have a couple of chicks from each parent right now, if that. A more or less solid colored bird, like what Msbear has, is a real treat in Seramas.

My pullet is brown but I don't know which gene is causing it. Is she brown, khaki, chocolate or something else? She's almost totally feathered out now and just gets prettier all the time.

Here are a couple I took this evening of the little silkied rooster. The lighter shot is in the sun and it washed his color out a lot, he's got a lot deeper red/brown color.

I think they call that khaki but i'm not 100% positive. I have one that looks a lot like that.

That is so cool, they are so similar yet such a difference in the hues. I was just told by a breeder who understands the colors better than anyone I've found, that she may be a color known by game bird breeders and that for now, I should consider her an ER allele, silver birchen with a pumpkin diluter. There is nothing simple about Serama colors

They are definitely tough for a novice, like me, to learn poultry colors with. She's nearly 3 months old now. I have a little rooster that is a bit older than she is that I plan to breed to her and I was told that I should get more like her. He is staying smaller than she is and he's very typey. She has good form when she's on the ground and alert. Her momma is a really nice B sized hen. Here is another of her

Here is the little rooster, a sibling, that I plan to breed her to. His tail is brown and he's got a lot of brown that's the same hue asn the pullet only darker brown. He's pumpkin so I think this will be an awesome cross and I may have some of these cool colors for sale in a fwe months.

if you click on non standard breeds my serama is the first on on there! This is Troubadour the 2009 National Champion! This is so exciting I didnt even know that they was going to use his picture for that! I wish they would of waited and got one with his tail completely in though but ohhh well!
