Elizabeth, PM'ed you about those cockerels. I sure am curious to find out whose they are, because I couldn't find a P.O. to ship to your zip, and they sent them back to me. Those are not from me.

For those of you who are incubating Seramas, what day do you lockdown? I'm used to lockdown on day 19 for other chicks, but isn't it earlier for Seramas?

I lockdown on day 18 for all my hatches - Seramas and other chickens. I've only had a few Seramas hatch on Day 19, most go till Day 20, 21 and even 22 and 23. I incubate my Serama eggs the same as any other egg - same temps and same humidity.

Thank you for the information! I would have freaked if I didn't hear your reply on day 21-23 and probably would have thrown out eggs. Great stuff to know!!!

No problem

I never throw out eggs without first candling and even opening if it goes past Day 24 or 25. You just never know! This last hatch, I had one hatch on Day 24!

I never 'lockdown'....I open the incubator everyday to hand turn eggs, add eggs or water or take out chicks...I incubate and hatch in the same incubator and don't change humidity...I have 2 Genesis 1588 going non-stop and have hatched about 200 Serama this year....but that's just me....

I'm pretty much the same way....except for the turning...unless I have a staggered hatch. If I don't, then I just stop turning on Day 18. Interesting about the humidity though. What do you incubate at? I used the air sac development method this last time and it worked really well.

The Genesis 1588 is preset for temperature, so I never even check it. The room is maintained near 72 degrees. I keep water in the 2 outside troughs and the vents wide open....that usually runs 50-60% (probably closer to 60%?).
