i have never eaten my culls... i cull most of them at a week or so of age... if there's huge flaw, i just put them over the trash can, and end it with the scissors... very easy... if they make the first culling, i wait until they are about 4-5 weeks of age and i look at them again... if they get a zip tie, then that means i wont' get rid of it right away... but the ones that don't either go to my friend's to raise and cook, or put up on sale as pet quality birds on craigslist or feedstores...

unless it's a project bird that i'm breeding for color... LOL.. i'm gonna have to fix type later on, and just keep all the splits or incomplete color birds... ha...

hey chaili

i got 4 lil mut birds from kate they are a cross between buff silkied and a black tailed japanese bantam....god only knows what they will wind up looking like...that said i have thier food up and a brick next to the water and the shaving everywhere else....they seem to be doing a good job of keeping most of it in the shallow bowl the eat out of and on the brick..... i have no other ideas though LOL

See I can't even do that. If I'm not keeping it then I sell it as a pet but that's just me. This is just a hobby for me, not a science project lol but I do enjoy learning about the different genetics.
