only 40 to 60% of eggs are fertile if they are pure serama . The smaller the bird that lays the egg and the smaller the egg - the less chance they are fertile . I've never personally refrigerated or put AC on eggs but have been told it doesn't hurt them . I have 8 fertile eggs on lock down in my bator due to hatch . I started with 13 after candeling this was what ended up being fertile . I have many friends that are breeding seramas and each one like with anything else has their own way of doing things . These little birds are a treasure to me . My suggestion -- get eggs from someone you know has pure serama and let the hatching begin . You cann't help but fall in love with them ( yep - I'm a SERAMA JUNKY and I love it )

I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. My fertility is great here. If something doesn't hatch here it's because of incubator issues, not the size of egg or parent stock. That's 7 1/2 yrs of observation from my breeding program.

All good - I can only speak from my own experince . I don't have as many years breeding serama as you . We can only share here what we know . I know my birds are pure serama and I know I only get an average 60% percent fertile rate . I've done a lot of reading and researched every where I could including people I knew before I bought and started breeding Seramas . I guess what I should have offered was research every where you can . One of My biggest forms of information other than friends that have experince , -- was Jerryseramas it's a web site . You cann't get anymore experince then from the man who imported the orignal 130 birds back in 2000 he has alot of really great helpful info. there including hatch rate . Hope this will help . Respectfully Tammy B.

the A/c was on the eggs that were a week away from hatch..little different lol

Wow yep alot different . I wouldn't have gotten so lucky . Although I have to say I probably go to the exstream . I protect them even as eggs for fear that something awful will happen . Always been an over protector even with my human children .
