Pics! Pics! Pics!

OOOHHH! Congratulations, Walkswithdog! My Serama hatch was a bust, I got nothing, and I bought a thermostat and everything! Good thing I have 4 roos and 6 hens getting ready to help me out! I can't wait to see yours!

Just wanted to share and say that Jerry said they were going to talk about frizzled serama being a new variety like Silkied serama!!!
HOW NEAT!

I actually do this for pics when I think about it...... makes it easier on me. Rather than trying to handle them, rubbing under their chin to get them to pose and then grabbing the camera. I just grab a neighboring "stranger". Everyone stands at alert then.

Hey
Sorry for getting a bit off topic
Is it fine to get just one serama hen in a flock of 2 silkies?
My friend breeds SQ seramas, and gives me massive discounts on them

Do you mean is it fine to have one serama hen in with 2 male silkied Serama?
Or do you mean one serama hen with a pair of Japanese Silkie hens?

How old are they?
How much room to they have?
The boys may fight over her or harass her to death.
She'll need room to get away for sure from males or females.

If they are Japanese silkie, they might crush her depending on her size.....if they were to fight.
Serama can be spunky though and hold their own...

The seramas are year-2 year old adults.
My silkies are your average silkie hens.
What I mean is
2 Silkie hens with 1 serama hen.
My silkies are quiet small.
My coop is pretty small, BUT, they free range all day, and only go into the coop for bed time

Ahhh..If the pen already belongs to the silkies, they may be protective of their 'territory'. I try to introduce birds into a totally new pen..if you are doing this you *might* have less of a problem.
On the other hand, your silkies might be very docile and accept her with no problem. I'd just keep an eye on them, whatever you choose. Make sure she has a place to hide or get away from them if they are picking on her. Heck...she might even hen peck them??
Good luck!!
