She sounds sweet. We have had a few hens like that to, usually the ones that we handled a lot as chicks. As for the eggs we have had hens lay little micro eggs before too down to the size of dime. What causes it....I have know idea personally but I do know when it happened with ours it was at the end of their laying season and its happened in the dead of winter.....not sure but I figured it was due to being done laying for the year.

Look forward to seeing everyone's thoughts on this one.

She sounds so sweet! They are just a super great breed.
Where did you get the hen? Do you have any idea her age?
I have a ton of them, and some are finicky layers or lay irregularly.
It depends on the size of the bird sometimes also.
I think we need a picture of her! lol

WE ALWAYS NEED PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so I was reading your posts about wanting pics and, wouldn't ya know it, I heard THE CALL. She has a high pitched one so, I knew it was her. I grabbed my camera and headed out to document her laying of THE EGG.

Please excuse my backyard.. we are preparing for chickenstock next Saturday and are bringing 3 coops and a bunch of nesting boxes made of reclaimed cabinets and such so... for the time being, it looks like one heck of a menagerie.. I was hoping you all would understand

She punked you! lol

What is her hubby? Im not sure on his breed...
Yard forgiven! I wish I my hubby would make me nice coops like that!

He is a rosecomb and loves her to pieces.. calls her for food, crowds her, the whole deal but, does not breed her. I have had to take up AI to get the crosses I want for my project. So, hence, the big anticipation for a freakin egg!!

Wow, I love the coloring on that second hen and the first two roosters! Beautiful!

Also, two counts of good news on the serama topic:

1. Splash, one of my hens, is seriously broody again and sitting on quite a few eggs! They're all developing quite well. So exciting!

2. It appears that of my four chicks I currently have, it seems that only one is a rooster and the other three are hens.

No guarantees, but that's how it looks so far!

Yay, my tiny-scale serama breeding operation is finally getting some growth!

That's adorable! My Serama Nelly and her Cochin "hubby" Artie were inseparable, head over heels for each other! I sold him, and even though she has her pick of two handsome men of her own kind, I don't see her enamoured with either.
