Thanks for the pointers. I'll keep my eyes open. I have a black cockerel and 2 black pullets, and a friend of mine has a trio of blues, so I can "make" some more blacks. Right now my black boy is with a chocolate pullet, and my mixed chocolate boy is with the black pullets! I think I'm going to rotate them this week, and put my barred guy with the black girls.

I have a nice start of decent stock, about half of it from Jerry, so I'll just be patient. But those poor black girls are going to be working overtime!

I would Love to see your Chocolates and I hope you'll keep me in mind when you have some Chocolates or Split roosters. Maybe I'll have something extra cool to trade with you by then. Chocolate Barred would be neat

I think my barred guy is a bit too big, but for what I paid for him, I have to use him. I have a small B black girl that he'll be paired with soon.

I'm SURE I'll have too many roosters by late spring/ early summer, and some will be split for chocolate. I'm setting eggs every week at the moment, so there should be plenty of chicks coming down the pipeline.

Juliette, why do I think that even working towards the same goals, we will both end up with something entirely different! I have about 20 eggs hatching in the next couple weeks, and I can't wait to see if they chicks are at all what they're "supposed" to be. I fully expect to get some surprises.

I got some serama hens from yude33177 on SCNA, they arrived today. They're all very pretty girls! One of them isn't one that I ordered though, and I'm not sure what to do about it? I can't afford to have him send the one I wanted, and this one does look very nice. He also sent a cockerel as a gift, I should have known

At least he's a pretty little guy, though his legs are kinda short. The girls weigh 14.2, 13.7, and 11.0; the boy is 13.8. So they are nice, small birds

We weighed my babies today too, just for fun. One of them needs to go on a diet, at 7 1/2 weeks he weighs 5.1 ounces

The tiniest one weighs in at 2.0, she's also 7 1/2 weeks old. My 3-day-old wheaten marans chicks weigh 1.3 and 1.5, so the serama girlie is an itty-bitty one!
