How do you get them to STAND?!?!?!?!? I try to get good pics of mine (they are 9 weeks) but all they do is lay there like I'm gonna eat them!

Oh, and does anyone know when they finally stop changing sexes? I swear the last time I looked I had 5 cockerels and 6 pullets but now today I have 6 cockerels and 5 pullets

I don't know which one is 'new', they all look the same

Thank you! My daughter named him after he made such a swift appearance into the world lol. He is a handful but I know he will be worth it (notice the "he" stuff...I'm soooo hoping for a rooster!). Right now he is downstairs cheeping his head off. He wants to play and be held, sigh. He has been chest bumping the chicks in the mirror and ripping up his "ostrich friend". We think he's figured it all out

Next weekend and more chicks cannot come quick enough!

Well, this is what I do when I need to "multi-task", I tie a string around my waist, over the knit shirt I have on, and put the baby in the shirt. OH man, it works like a charm. Today Beep was in my shirt for 3 hours while I cleaned my horses stall and turned her out. I am glad to hear he will have buddies next week! My Beep has a mirror, feathered fake friends too!

These are the first chicks I've ever incubated and hatched. They were hatched in Nov from a pair I got from Jerry. Three out of four fertile eggs hatched. I'm really enjoying these babies.
They're pictured at 23 and 24 days old and this was their first time out of the brooder for pics.

Pictured here at 38 and 39 days old. The little cockerel was trying to crow when these pics were taken...I have to laugh every time I hear it.

Pippychicken, its a little hard to see your Serama in the pens. Hopefully you will be able to take pictures of them out of cages when they calm down and are used to you a little bit.

I see you have one with some mille fleur like coloring. I am hoping for that color some day.

Edited to add: Who did you get your Serama from?

Gerbil, thats too bad about Mr Booger. How old is he, might be a teenage hormone thing coming thru? Have you continued to handle him even though he is trying to bite? He sure has some nice colors that many people not necessarily interested in showing would be happy to have.

Are you sure he is not ill or has an injury of any kind?

serious breeders should not use mean or aggresive birds in their breeding programs, serama are bred for temperment and character, and aggressiveness is something not to breed into one's flock

That was why i deducted some points.

Don't deduct points, wring his neck.
The meaness comes from the OEGB blood in his background and will be passed on to his offspring.

I have several exceptional cockerels, project birds (blue, barred , crele, cuckoo, combos) too good for the feed store, I just can't use them all. Free, but for cost of box and express shipping, 1 for $50, 2 for $60. If I don't move them here they will be available at the Cajun Classic for a small adoption fee, sorry NO pullets.

My babies are 10 weeks old now. Here are three of them:

The cockerel is the smallest I've had. Note the 1/4" hardware cloth behind him.
