Ok, whew! I thought maybe I got a stray egg...which wouldn't be the end of the world, but I paid big bucks for these eggs so....lol. This will be the first non-yellow legged Serama...not bad I guess.

Dark legs are very common in darker colors (blacks and blues). The preferred color is yellow or swarthy. Swarthy is a mix of yellow and black like this:

Granted, these are bantam cochin feet, not serama, but you can see the mix of black and yellow.

Oh, thanks Shelley! I had no idea what swarthy meant. Several of my cochin/silkie/nn chicks have legs like this. I thought swarthy was green. This is the first pure black Serama I've hatched. It almost looks dark blue right now but you can never tell!

Okay, first off I will say that I'm probably the worst at taking pictures

My second excuse is that this was my biggest hatch so far this season

But anyway, here are my most recent additions: 11 serama, 1 splash OEGB, 2 silkies, and 4 EE:

This one has a blue silkie on the left, a white silkie right of center, and a 'brown' EE in the back...even the silkies tower over them!

This one shows 2 EE in the back and the white silkie in the middle. The little 'grey' chick with dark legs is from my splash OEGB

Again, the 2 big chicks are EE...surrounded by serama

I love this little one, too bad it's probably an unrecognized color

Yes, because as we all know, cameras are well-known for eating baby chicks

but of course! I love it when the chicks are just a bit older and they rush at the camera. I've only been lucky enough to get the "rushing" photo a couple times. It's hysterical. I'll be doing another photo shoot this week with all my chicks. It's a fun but time consuming day lol

Another pip and 5 babies hatched as of now...2 with part of their yolks not absorbed (I didn't help these two, they just hatched that way), so they are in a separate brooder but doing well. From all my research, they should be fine as long as they are kept quiet till the yolk absorbs or dries up. The other one is still drying and shy, so photos of her later

These are the first two - Danielle (black) and Fran. Fran is the loud mouth, lol very demanding and a blur of activity. You wouldn't guess she is only a few hours old. She is all over the cage, demanding to be held, riling up Danielle when she is sleeping. Lol I can tell she is going to be a trouble maker

My little chick has green legs. That's why the breeder gave her to me...not viable for the breeding program, despite her cute looks!! Doesn't matter to me, I'm not interested in breeding. Just wanted a pet.

ADORABLE pics of chicks!! Great job everyone!
