I have 3 Seramas and 3 Mille Fleurs chicks and 5 are doing great! But there is this one Serama who is the smallest of the whole group who doesn't look like she's doing so well....
They are all about a week old and all have their wing feathers and some tail feathers...except this one slow Millie but it's doing great
The Serama has her wing feathers, tail feathers, and looked fine yesterday morning but now she seems really tired/exhausted. While everyone else is eating, drinking, and running around, she is sleeping in some pieced of fabric (cut up PJ pants very thin) I put in the brooder (just in case she was cold?) The temperature is actually pretty warm, 85 - 90F, and no one is panting or huddling together/on top of each other. I guess because her size she's cold??? She's REALLY tiny
She hasn't been up and running around, eating, or drinking for all I know..... They are all napping right now so I put one of her Serama buddies in the fabric with her to keep her company? warmer? I really don't want to lose her She's the kid's favorite.....
They named her Tiny
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Have you tried giving her a little sugar water or gatorade? Or polyvisol without iron? Maybe she just needs a little pick me up.

One thing i have found out with the panting is change the bedding material daily and keep very clean. I hope this helps.

You might also want to keep an eye out for "pastey butt" make sure her vent is free of crusties and maybe offer her some nutridrench or sugar water. If the other chicks are bigger than she is you might also make sure she has a chance to get to the food and water. I have seen my chicks pant on occasion, but usually when it's too warm.

Good luck with her!

Can you mix Serama with LF? Just wondering. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I would think no because they would get picked on but just wondering if anyone has done it successfully? If they had their own coop and shared a run maybe? Just learned about Seramas and I am fascinated! They're amazing!

My personal experience with doing that has turned out OK, BUT I have small size LF. They all share the coop and run. I am curious now with what others say on this subject.........

Thanks! Did you start your flock together?

Where did you get your Seramas? I am in So Cal too (San Diego)and have never seen them here

Nope, mine have all been either rescued, given to me or purchased. In the pic we have from left to right; serama hen/ serama roo / gamey mutt hen / serama hen / Australorp mix hen. I also have a gmaey mutt roo and hen that live in the run with just a fence between them. They all come out to free range in the evening together.

OH BOY I get to be an enabler......SOME of the Serama breeders in the area; ocseramas, sunvalleyseramas, yb192004. ALL BYC members. Seramas ARE the coolest birdies on the planet!
