So Jerry Schexnayder is the one who imported seramas? I actually live like 10 minutes away from him. I may even be related to him because my grandma is a Schexnayder. I see his name in this thread all the time. Is he really the best? I may buy a few from him just to keep. Anyone have seramas from him? Apparently he is well known throughout the US.

Jerry is the original importer and is "one" of the best. There are several top breeders that breed beautiful birds of the same caliber and are just as difficult to beat at the shows. Dianne Brewer and Grady Taylor to name a couple.

almost everyone if not everyone has birds from him thats where Malay seramas first came in thanks to him we have so many of these wonderful birds around and yes go by check his place out he has everything seramas you are looking for .... period....

So let me get this straight. A type A serama is preferred? I may start getting into breeding them especially after I have a breeder thats local. I need to browse through this thread and find out the standards for them. I am currently breeding silkies and I am in love with them! Do you know if Jerry sells chicks or eggs? I would love to just buy those instead.

WAIT!!!!!!! He has paint silkies?!!! Are you serious!!?? I heard that mentioned but I thought he just had a few. I am definitely planning on visiting him in the future! I wonder if he lets people visit his farm. He live about 2 minutes away from the school I go to. Doesnt he live next to a plantation of some sort?

Thanks Sunny California. I try hard and spent a lot of time and a long time selecting breeding stock and I've been at this for quite sometime now. This year, I am particularly impressed with the chicks that are hatching and have some pretty amazing looking 3-5 month old pullets and cockerels.

joe17- thanks for rubbing it in! LOL If I lived 10 minutes away Jerry would probabley have to get a restraining order on me, can we say stalker!!!. I would be at his house, no actually with his birds 24/7.Ok the pictures of the gators were a little deterant, maybe that is why he posted them on his website...for stalkers like me!!! Hopefully on his gate is says beware of Gators! I would love to see his set up and all his gorgeous birds. It is probabley good that most of us are far away or he would never get any work done.

I don't think Jerry sells chicks or eggs. A type "A" Serama is not necessarily preferred. It depends on what you want the bird for. A's size birds do not necessarily reproduce well. There are limits on weight as far a showing and some "A" birds can be too small to meet the minimum weight requirements.
