Are you building a stationary coop, or a big tractor? I got a good idea by looking at the coop of a breeder near me. His pen fronts were full size doors; the entire front opens up. Very handy, unless you have flighty birds who want to escape. I turned a workbench into five such pens, two on top and three underneath. Window latches close all but the double door one on the bottom, and the feeders are all made from recyclable materials. For food, I cut bottles (food containers, no chemicals), and the pop bottle waterers are hung with L-brackets and tiny eye hooks. I wrapped a bright piece of pipe cleaner wire arund the springs that hold the waterer, so I can find it back when I drop it. For chicks that can't reach the feed/water, I place blocks of wood underneath for steps, and I show them how to use them. I use shelf brackets to hang roosts, and I strung Christmas lights for a bit of illumination.

Thanks catwalk for the pic!

Hoping for a stationary coop. I really like the design of yours. Not quite set on...

1: Buying a shed off craigslist (cheaper, but I just dont really want to have to get a trailer to haul such a big thing)
2: Buying a shed from the store (more expensive, but will be able to transport easier since you just put the pieces together)
3: Building my own shed (I dont know about the cost. A plus would be that I can design how I want it and it will be built on site)

Oh what to do, what to do...lol

I will have to whip up some quick prints and show you guys for some opinions on what would be best..

Ken I am glad to see you got the roo back!! if you want cocopop project he is it!! Strange hoe things work out, glad you are able to stay home a bit with the family and work on the birds!!
