Male Button Quail cries

So I’ve had my button quails since they were just a few days old ...as they were growing i was sure that one of them was a female because of the way she called out ....now that they are a bit older I noticed that she is doing that low growl and crowing loudly. Does this mean she’s actually a male ? If so is it common for males to imitate a females call ?
