Male Duck Mating with Chicken Hens

We had the same prob just a week ago. Our drake was trying to mate with the chickens also and very mean to them. We gave him away and the female duck since she was raised with the hens and rooster also is doing fine on her own the rooster is very proud to have her with his flock also. i watched her close last week incase she got lonley and she is just fine. ( I think it was cause they were all together as babies) :)
 
You could just make a makeshift coop and run for the ducks, and then move them to another coop and run that is stable nearby! No need to re-home them, you jut need to separate them A.S.A.P!

I am having the same problem, just in reverse. I have a young roo that is mounting the duck. Tonight, he mounted the duck twice within a couple of minutes. Im not even sure if the duck is male or female. Does this mean that the duck is a female or that the roo cant tell either? I havent noticed a drake feather either. I only have one duck, so I think it will be lonely if I separate it. I am trying to find a mate for it, but not having any luck.

I am still learning about chickens and ducks. I have only had chickens since march and the duck I have only had for a couple of weeks. The roo is 23 weeks and the duck is 6 weeks.

my duck who was suspected to be female turned out to be male and his BESTEST friend was mny rhode island red hen.. they grew up together since day one and were never apart for two years... now suddenly he appeared to be trying to mate with her... she was getting her feathers ripped out by his beak and started looking ill... i put her up in the coop and took down the ladder that the duck used to get up into the boxes but she kept getting down there with him on the ground..... GRRRR i seperated the duck and her but she did finally die... not sure like scientifically, why she died. no obvious injury. but now he is going after my other hens. what gives? can he ACTUALLY breed them?! and what is this about the hen getting ill by a drake? im a few seconds away from.....duck for thanks giving!
 
Yes my drake caused one of my hens to prolapse and absolutely distorted another's reproductive system, ripping her vent to pieces.

Sourland is telling the absolute truth . I try telling people the same thing. Either they don't believe it, just don't care, or think they will come up with some duck-en mix.
