I am thinking about getting a few ducks and in my research everyone is saying that the male runner duck is a lot quieter than the female. I was wondering if you can keep just males together and not have any females. I have neighbors close to my house and the noise would make then very un happy neighbors.

During the breeding season males by themselves get a little crazy - actually, frequently males with mates get a little crazy during the breeding season. A good drake is a joy to have around. A hormone driven maniac can sorely tryyour patience.

How many are you talking?
A few should be fine.

My runner girls went though a very 'loud mouth' stage and my neighbors could easily hear them. But then they quieted down. They aren't too very loud very often now - only when they want food and their dish is empty. Then the neighborhood can hear them.
But the boys shouldn't make much noise at all.
