oh wow ok. I am thinking of sending him to freezer camp cause the ladies arent receptive to him yet and he is just getting frustrated and crowing all the time. Ive heard anecdotes about birds that crow frequently being rougher matersMy pearl is 200 grams or 7oz
My celadon tux in 182g or 6.4oz
Are you sure he’s the only roo? Are they feather sexable?oh wow ok. I am thinking of sending him to freezer camp cause the ladies arent receptive to him yet and he is just getting frustrated and crowing all the time. Ive heard anecdotes about birds that crow frequently being rougher maters
They are not sexable via chest feathers but all signs point to hens for the others. No bulge, speckles where chest feathers are not pied in some way, same body shape, proper crowns. Are you sure he’s the only roo? Are they feather sexable?
a couple of weeks in the 100's, august stuff. the garage they are in never got above 90ish. They were also still in the phase they would need heat so i just made sure the air stayed circulating and the moisture stayed downFor a standard size bird 200g is reasonable for a male, which I agree tends to be a bit smaller. I cleared my excess males at 6.5 weeks last hatch. They were becoming problematic. Most of my males were around 240g.
How’s the temp where you are? To much heat can significantly stunt their appetite.
at 5 weeks though? probably going to dispatch him soon if he doesnt grow but if he does i will updateA 7oz roo isn’t really strangely small for non-jumbo cots. He may have just gotten to about where he's gonna.
Even with my jumbos, males run smaller; and under 9oz at 8-10 wks (when I eat em) ain’t uncommon.at 5 weeks though? probably going to dispatch him soon if he doesnt grow but if he does i will update
