Hello! I am new to this group and am looking for advice. So here is our dilemma: Back in October, we found a bird running up and down the walkway of the apartment building we live in. We rescued it. We weren't able to identify it at first. After contacting many aviary sources, we realized it's a King Quail and named him Kingsley (pic attached). He is living in an indoor enclosure my husband built. He eats seeds & meal worms. We're sad that he is alone; he calls out very frequently and several times throughout the night. He is lonely and it breaks my heart. It would be wonderful if he were housed with females. We live in Southern California. We're willing to assist in his relocation. We have tried to locate other King Quail owners in Southern CA who who are looking for a male & it's been impossible to find. This is a very hard decision for us but we want Kingsley to be happy. He is fearless and full of energy; these birds are very social. We love him but he is looking for a mate. I have been asked why we don't get a female for Kingsley. Unfortunately we live in a small apartment and Kingsley's calls can be heard by some neighbors who are already disturbed by it :( Thank you for your thoughts and ideas. :) Signed, Kingsley's Mom

I do have a suggestion. Post your message on the Southern California Thread.

I just visited there, and there was a person that is interested in quail. Of course they may be too distant from you, but all things are possible.
This way your message is viewed by peeps near your location.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,, :hugs for rescuing Kingsley,,,,, and:welcome
