I was helping someone fill a minimum at the store and came home with two chicks that are just slightly older than a batch I already had in the brooder. They are ten, maybe 11 weeks old now. The one appears to be a welsummer pullet, she’s in the second picture. The first chick is making me second guess my original guess of male. It came from the same bin and looked the same, but who really knows? So, what do you think? Boy and girl or girl and girl?

They appear to me both to be pullets. They should be good egg layers. My Welsummers are. But be prepared for them to be very noisily dramatic about the entire egg laying process. They not only announce they've laid an egg, but they announce they intend to lay an egg, and they announce when someone else is in the nest laying an egg. It's a really huge deal to Welsummers, and they really, really get into it.

lol I have a couple hens like that already, they’ll fit right in. They’re very docile compared to my homebreds. I like them both very much.

Good to know and I'll keep that in mind for the future!
