I just hatched 2 baby quail today! The first is definitely a female, it’s pretty easy to tell since she’s got some nice reddish to her and is darker.

The second is a lot lighter and yellow but still has red to it, is it a boy?

this is the newest one I’m not sure about:

I know it can be easy to sex babies based off color but it’s hard to tell when they’re still wet. Usually males have the pharaoh colors and females have a reddish hint to the yellow instead of the black, where the males are basically solid black and yellow

You can feather sex chicks only if they're from a sex link line. Most coturnix quail are not sexable that early.

Are these some kind of sex-link variety? It's my understanding you cannot feather sex regular coturnix quail until around 2-3 weeks of age....

From my research, only special sex link varieties can be sexed at birth.
