Hello, my wife and I recently got our first duck to add to our flock of chickens, I am new to ducks and was wondering if anyone might be able to take a guess at the sex? I will attach a link to the video on this post, the duck is either a black runner or a cayuga but I'm pretty sure it'd a runner. Thank you!

It's too young to sex it by the voice. Drakes will have a raspy hoarse sounding quack, and females will have the typical quacking noise like you hear in movies.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if it was too early to tell or not, it's chirp has started to slightly change but I really can't tell if it's any deeper.

One thing is for sure, it's not a runner unless a mix. 😊
This is why I thought it might be a black runner, it's stance is upright a lot of the time.

Where did you get your duckling from? I think it looks like a Runner. The body is more elongated from tail to head in the video and definitely from the stance in your picture. I've noticed over the years that a lot of the Hatchery quality runners aren't as long/lean and don't always stand as upright as often like breeder/show quality.

A Cayuga is practically a runner I think…. 🤔.
