I have two male pekins that are 20 weeks old... are they too old to eat?

If not how do I cook them?

I just have these two and they were intended to be pond ornaments but they hang on my porch and I'm tired of hosing off duck crap... also with winter quickly approaching I'm sure they are going to get cold.

Ducks live with a DOWN coat on all year, they'll be fine in cold snowy weather as long as you provide them with a three-sided (and a roof) shelter.

Normally a pekin will get slaughtered from seven to nine weeks. After that, as you know, it just doesn't pay to feed them for the amount of weight gained.

Treat them like one of your older chickens, Jeff. The proverbial crock pot works wonders. They also make good dog food. My dog will even eat raw duck heads and munch on the feet.

A list of Texas game recipes for duck is here.

Thanks.... I figured.... I don't know if I want to eat an old duck.

By the way.... old not cold. I could care less if they are cold... it's 80 degrees here.

Oh... I didn't even realize I typed that... that would make sense.

I don't have a house for them, just the pond to swim in. But they don't even like the pond... instead they chase the chickens around and hang at the house.
