Male Turkey stealing eggs???

We decided to let one of our hens sit on her eggs as she was going broody and we needed a few more chickens the weird thing is whenever she got off to eat or drink(she wasn't a great mom to be honest) our male bronze turkey would go in and sit on them!? Eventually the chicken gave up altogether and the turkey (noodles) took over. After a while i checked the eggs and some had made it to the late stages but died because when the chicken left for good it must have been a while before turkey sat down. So i took the bad eggs some of which were not fertile and got rid of them thinking that would be the end of that but the turkey was still feeling broody and just sat on nothing then when the chicken laid her usual egg a day he shoves it under him. The chicken lays every day and he continues to do it every day only gets up once a day for food and water. Has anyone else had any experience with this?? His mate died a year ago from a prolapse, does this have something to do with it? Any advice is much appreciated.
