Males behaviour

Yeah got 4 females n 2 males, have seen the females getting on top of each other in the kiddy pool and on the ground
Once the hormones get going they all act nutty.

My male duck has become quite protective of his girlfriend since he has matured. He tends to try to "run " us out of the area. He comes running up and just stands there. He occasionally pecks at our boots. More when our back is turned. I turn around and face him and he usually steps back. If he doesn't back down I pick him up and hold him, making sure he doesn't try to peck. I am guessing this is a dominance thing? Any other suggestions? It is quite funny as he usually runs away when we bend down to pet him, hiding behind her but sometimes he gets brave. I don't want to discourage him from his "thing" but I also don't want him attacking people.

What your doing sounds about right, When our old drake was a young fellow in his prime he would wait till I turned around to leave their pen and he would stretch his neck out and walk really fast behind me, It was hilarious once I'd stop and turn around he would waddle off like nothing happened. My drake who we had in the house from hatch till he was close to 3 months old well I had to use pretty strong arm tactics on him to keep him from attacking me when I'd turn around he would literally jump on my back. I would have to lay him down flat on the ground on his belly many times till he got it that I wasn't part of his harem. He is an awesome drake now. [Still thinks he's one of the dogs though] LOL, as long as he doesn't jump on you I'd just keep doing what your are with him. It's usually the ones that got raised inside for one reason or the other that really have problems.

My ducks & drakes do that occasionally to one another. Usually it's when the lower man down is in the pool and the upper ranker wants the pool. So yep, I vote for dominance. It's all about who is the boss!
