Males or females? PLEASE HELP

i am brand new to doves, but have been told that the only way to be sure is if it lays an egg. i adopted two ringneck doves off craigslist. Was supposed to be a pair but no eggs and they started fighting each other. They are probably both males.

i love that white with brown markings!

The only way to sex doves or pigeons in my estimation is ask another dove or pigeon.

This is done by watching them interact with in a flock dynamic. Even then mistakes are often made.

Some species of doves are easy to sex, being dimorphic (males are a different color or pattern than females). Vent sexing is not always reliable. Some species are so alike that surgical or DNA sexing is the answer. Male doves are usually larger, brighter, and bolder than hens.

Also try a mirror if the dove coo's or pecks at the reflection it should be a male but if it does not it should be a female because they don't react to there own image.

Check out this link it may help as well:
