Hey all. My birds are just at egg laying age-27 weeks old. Only my Dominique is consistently laying an egg a day. Just found this in their run. Is this normal for a beginning malformed egg? Should I worry?

Soft shelled eggs like that happen sometimes when pullets start laying- they just need time to work out the glitches in their systems. Be sure they are getting adequate feed with something like oyster shell free choice available for added calcium as needed.

My younger hens dropped a few jelly eggs when they first started laying. It freaked my wife out, so totally worth it lol. It'll work itself out; their system just needs to get all the parts up and running.
