malformed egg

Not that I can see.
The age seems to be significant, and these birds seem to start reproductive problems at around 2 years.

Shelless eggs, wrinkled eggs and enlongated eggs.

Oh okay. So just egg problems in general. I knew that their productive system starts getting "glitches" about that age, but I have never seen eggs like this one.

Thanks for explaining.

It's not from a hatchery, but from a local woman (Seattle area) who raises chickens. She probably has 100 at a time. The bird is, alledgedly, a Maran, a variety she breeds for their chocolate-colored eggs. Someone suggested the crazy shell might result from exposure to Newcastle disease, but I have no idea if that is the case. The eggs are normal inside and my other birds lay traditional, smooth shelled eggs.

My hens that are from breeder stock that are around that age don't have any egg issues.

I used to get eggs like that from a almost 12 year old barred rock hen, but sadly a fox got her one day, Im Thankful that I blowed some of them eggs out and still have the shell to remember her by...............

I'm just curious if eggseattle ever got her egg figured out. I've been doing research on IB (infectious bronchitis) and believe this is what she's got going on.

steffpeck had a couple of great threads regarding IB with the best info I've found thus far.

I read somewhere that some illness caused that- a respiratory thing. The hen recovers from the initial infection but then has these weird eggs and a lower than average overall production
