Awww! Mallard ducklings are so cute!

I might get some winter eggs :) My new mallards that hatched in late june started mateing today, and with a small blast of warm weather today some of the other mallards showed signs of wanting to mate. Sadly though im only wanting black mallard eggs and my little dusky is being very stubborn and not paying attention to any begging the males are giving her.

Ohh so cute, I have a pure black from Haveing dusky mallards with a wierd mutation. but I would love other colors so much.

It always makes me angry when people sell colored mallards for pure bred price when they have been mixed with other breeds such as call Ducks .

Hey all!

This is my mallard boy, Potato. I don't know where he came from, or if he was wild caught or not. My fiance and I got him and a pekin female, Waffles, from his aunt. They lived in a small circle of chicken wire with a barrel for shelter. I've always wanted to have a duck, and my fiance's aunt didn't want to keep them over the winter, so we took them in last fall. They were nervous and unused to human contact when we got them, but I've been working on making friends with them. Potato will eat right out of your hand, and he's very gentle about it, unlike Waffles the fattykins! He'll also come up and nibble at your jeans in case you have any treats in your pockets. He's only about a year old (or so I was told), and he's still working on getting that shiny green head. But I think he's adorbs, lol.

Looking for treats.

It took them a couple weeks, but they finally figured out what the swimming pool was for. He doesn't always use it though. He's usually content just to sit on the sidelines and watch Waffles have all the fun.

He didn't have his breeding plumage when we first got him.

Showing off his stuff. Waffles is jealous of his perfectly straight, non pigeon-toed legs, lol.

These pictures are kind of old, but I haven't been able to get any recent ones because, as it turns out, they absolutely abhor snow. Everything I've read says ducks don't give two quacks about snow, but these two refuse to be outside if it's on the ground. They're certainly quirky little things! I love having these ducks so much that I decided to extend our flock and ordered some ducklings online, and they're set to arrive in mid February. I seriously cannot wait!

Sorry for the long post!
