Mallards

Quote:
Yes. That is why we have mallards in Georgia. This is well outside their historical breeding range but all of the mallards around the parks and ponds here raise quite a few ducks. Feral mallards make up a high percentage of the mallard harvest in Georgia.

I don't own ducks, but I know of many that end up at our local lakes. I have noticed that there is a huge core of mallards that never leave the area as long as there's adequate food for them. We get more in the winter, but they also leave in the spring. About 1/2 to 2/3 of the ducklings born at one of the lakes tend to either stay at that lake or in the area. So, I think if you provide food and care for them, they may stick around. Not a guarantee, though.
