Mama Duck Attacked!!

Ok I can do that. I have a big bird cage that I kept the other baby ducks in for a week or so before. It is perfect. The light can hang from the top and our cat can't reach it! Has food and water dishes in it too. Guess I'll need to find a warm place for it tho since the floor has to be 90-95 degrees! WOW. I wish I had another empty aquarium! We have a cat in the house at the moment with kittens and I sure don't want her thinking the ducklings are FOOD! Would a heating pad work or would that be too hot? What about if I put a towel on top of it??? But LOW humidity for the ducks yes? If I remove the thermometer how will I know the temp for the rest of the eggs???

I already took the empty egg out and I think it already pooped so I should probably change the towel right? Oh yeah, another egg has pipped and I can see it pushing out!!! Going to be a busy day!!! I'm logging everything!!!

As soon as I can figure out how to upload vids I'll do it!!!

Oh no, I did not explain right. The floor need to be that temp where the light hits it. You do not need heading from below if it is in the house. You can put a towel or cardboard below, if you need extra insulation from a cold floor. I would also put cardboard around the cage to prevent drafts from getting to the duck. Here is my setup in a shipping crate that I had to modify to get taller. I used the doors for two dog crates to keep my cat at bay.

CONGRATS on your new baby ducks. I just found this thread and couldn't be happier to read that you were able to hatch out one duckling so far. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.

Just take it out to get the temp right for the bird cage, you can put it back in after you are sure the temp is right.

I'm so happy to hear that another one has pipped, it better for the first duck to have a companion. Aren't you a proud mom right now?

Proud as a peacock but amazed and very thankful and grateful too!!!

Excellent set up you have ... the pix helped a lot! I can do that!!! Had to wash it out but should be dried and ready to set up within the hour. I changed the towel in the incubator too. Fun holding the baby too!
