Mama gone mean?

We have a silkie who hatched out 5 babies... she’s always been super friendly. She’s actually a house chicken since her mate died in a hawk incident about 7 months ago. We actually had her hatch out babies hoping that she would have her own new little flock and be able to go back outside.

Anyways, she was a bit moody when sitting on eggs, but never tried to peck us even when handling her and the eggs, we’ve consisting handled the babies and her since they hatched.

Now babies are 4 weeks old and all the sudden she’s pecking and attacking us when we come around. My daughter was merely walking by today and she pecked the crap out of her leg. Why all the sudden has she turned mean?

She may be ready to wean the chicks and is trapped inside where she can't get away.

No way, like I said we hatched them out so that all could go back outside. We’re in the process of building a new coop. We let them go outside daily for a bit as long as the weather isn’t too cold.

She is possibly sick of the attention and probably ready to wean the Chicks. I'm sure she will settle once her hormones are back to normal.
