You admitted to checking your first chicks every minute just like the rest of us did with our first ones.My second batch were raised by Zorra in the barn. Yeah, I went down ALL the time. First to open the barn and let the girls (and Zorra and "her" chicks) out. Maybe mid day because I had stuff to do out there and again to give the girls their night time scratch and close up the barn
You know, I was thinking that I got a hiney chewing, but my old memory being what it is I decided I'd better do a little fact checking. I estimated the time span when I was at my most frazzled, did a search on the old thread, and found what I was looking for. Boy, was I ever high strung back then...that's probably why I remember it as a good old fashioned hockey check!! It clearly was not and here I've been saying such things. Shame on me!!I don't recall hiney tasting????...maybe a few well placed questions as to why you were doing all that stuff?I didn't even do all that nervous Ninny stuff for my own babies, so couldn't imagine anyone going to those lengths for a bunch of chickens.
And, that, my friends is... I think why some newbies find it offensive to receive advice. Unfortunately, when the advice is contrary to what one is doing, or thinks they should be doing, it is frequently taken as criticism. Love you both!
Good heavens no! That was just what I need at the exact time I needed it. And look at me now - I is a perfeshunal!But I DO sound preachy, don't I???I think I was trying not to make fun of you and not bang my head on the wall at the same time, but it sure came out sounding condescending, alright!
