Mama Hen Eating Medicated Chick Starter?

Is it okay for a mother hen to be eating medicated chick starter? I thought i read something one time that said this could possibly cause the hen to get cocci?

It will not hurt her she needs all the food she can eat they always seem to lose weight when they sit..and her eggs will be okay too

It's fine. No, it wont' cause her to get cocci. She is already immune to what's in the soil anyway. She needs the vitamins, minerals and protein in the starter to get back her weight.

To add: it is probably not necessary to feed the chicks hatched by Mama medicated food, they probably already are immune to anything that would be found in your yard anyway.

I'm glad to get this clarified. Whenever I put starter out for my babies, all my chickens come running like it's some kind of chicken candy. I was a little worried about the grownups eating it, but I guess it's okay.
