Oops, I jumped the gun. I posted pics in that forum topic at 4 1/2 and 5 1/2. Will post more pics next week.
Cute chicks, when they are about 6 weeks old, post individual pictures of them on this forum for help with the gender question: What Breed Or Gender is This?
Hi there! I thought I’d introduce myself. I live in Sebastopol (and love Penngrove!). My name’s Catherine and I’m sitting here with my 14 hens while I write this. I had 4 hens for quite some time, and this spring decided to “go big” and well, it’s a story how I got 10 more chicks but I’m enjoying every minute of it. Welcome to the forum!Hi there, I'm a brand new chicken Mama in Penngrove, CA. I'm stealing Niffty Chicken's Intro template to help me out with this intro...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, brand new! I've had my chicks for almost 4 weeks.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Four.
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 - Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 - Gold Sex Link, 1- Barred Rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I believe I'll enjoy mothering them the most. I'm interested in raising very happy and healthy chickens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy designing/building things and am a computer design/tech junkie. Other interests are permaculture and sustainable design principles.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a professional fine artist, oil painter for a living. Married to a firefighter and we have a 10-year-old Golden Retriever, named Theo.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC via Googling "identifying the gender of baby chicks" Now you know what my next post will be about!
Photo is from 2 1/2 weeks ago when they turned 2 weeks old.
