!Mamma goat is at the vet with Bloat (very sad ending)

The Dr. stated that gas x works the best that was several years ago tho but my family was happy with the results lol. I didnt read all your post about the pneumonia that is scary I know gasX is good for people so I would try it before I try oil when I get my goats.

Keep trying to get them to eat from a bottle. It will help if you can get some actual goats' milk. But you have two things working against you-the fact that they are used to mommie's teat, and the fact that they are used to mommies taste.

Don't despair if you never get them to eat, some people do wean that early (I'm not recommending it as a general practice-we don't wean until 12 weeks); if they are eating hay/grain well, just make sure they have plenty of fresh water and the highest quality hay you can get your hands on and they should be fine.

Your babies should be okay with hay and water. You might offer some goat chow or sweet cob to encourage them to eat. Watch them for the runs as they will be a bit stressed at this time.

Do you keep baking soda out for your does? You can usually get it from a feed store or feed mill. Goats will eat it as they need it to keep their rumens balanced. I don't feed it to my billies, though as they can be prone to stones and the soda neutralizes acids, promoting stones.

Really sorry for the loss of your doe. I've had to do the rumen puncture on a heavy in kid doe. Not fun. I've also lost one to bloat when I wasn't aware of it. I'm kind of paranoid now. Vicki
