Man O Man.. when does it stop?.. (my own pitty party)

Our family has been through the wringer and back over the last 3 years..

personal issues.. my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer...car accidents...and now my moms house burns down

when does it end?

I was in Cuba this last week and my mom was here with my kids when on Friday evening I get a call saying my moms house burned down. No cause known yet but we are thinking electrical. They bought a hot water tank from a big box store and had their installers install it.... and then the house burns down....

I am afraid to ask what next?

No one was hurt... my mom was here with the dog... my dad is so dependent on my mom that the only way she was able to watch my kids was talking my dad to go on vacation too, to Newfoundland so the house was empty

My Dad comes home tomorrow.. I have their HUGE dog (Chow Husky X.. I have 4X-5lb min pins so this guy is Honkin) My mom is at my sisters which is close to her house so she can be available for investigators

Oh, I am so sorry. I used to own a furniture store and dealt with people that lost everything. Most people can't tell you what they used to have. Almost no one makes a list of belongings. I made a list of things in every room and store it in a fire proof safe. I just had a pipe burst in the ceiling last week and have a mess. The insurance adjuster is here today and I brought out my list, he almost fainted. He took a picture of it. My point is, sit down with your parents and mentally go through the house one room at a time. "When you walk in the bedroom door, what is in front of you, to the left, to the right..... what is in the closet....on the floor, on the top shelf, how many dresses, shirts, pants, shoes, etc. What was in the curio cabinet.....china cabinet.....kitchen cabinets. It will take time and patience. The more people you can get together, you and your family, your sister, her husband, kids that can remember the better. Even cleaning stuff under the kitchen cabinet, pictures on the wall, everything costs money and will have to be replaced. God bless you and your family. I am glad no one was hurt.
