Managing soft shell eggs and burnout

From what I understand there is just a few reasons why you get softies. Age be it young just coming into lay or old end of lay. Poor calcium uptake. Stress. Lack of vitamin D. Not having enough vitamin B for proper uptake. Could be that your LH at the end of their laying careers. I have 3yr old LH. This winter is the first time she stopped laying...ever. She finished her molt and laid 2 small eggs in one week. And that was last week. So I dunno I just keep a eye on her. The very best I can hope for is that her reproductive tract stays healthy. If she stops laying I’m totally okay with that. I just hope she can go through eggopause’ and still live many years after. She has laid huge eggs constantly for 3 years dunno...just gonna wait and see.

in case they're just not taking the OS, as you suggest, did you try natural yogurt? That source of calcium is wolfed down by all mine when they're offered it

Yup. They have decided yogurt is evil. They run around trying to get it off their beaks
