Who has Mandarin Ducks here on the Forum?

Ive looked into nest boxes.... How do the babies get out of the nest box? It looks steep. 18", WOW, thats a deep nest.

Please post pictures of your Mandarin Duck enclosures. Im curious to see the cage, pond, nest, if its on wire, and if you have success breeding them.

So whats the code for White Mandarin ducks... is it a dominant color, recessive, or codominant.

Example. If you were to breed a Standard color Mandarin duck with a White mandarin duck, what color would the babies be?

WOuld they be Original Color Split to white?

Or would they be co Colored?

Hi, have a look at The Migratory/Ornamental Waterfowl INFO Thread, I'm sure there's plenty on Mandarins there

Since the gene is sexlinked it can't be carried on the W chromosome so if the female carry's the gene it will be expressed and can't be hidden (split) so only males can be split to white and they will be normal colored.
