My husband would like to start raising exotic ducks, primarily mandarin ducks, and I am trying to do my research now so that when the time comes we are well prepared. My question is, do they roost or how does that exactly work? I know wood ducks use boxes to nest in, what about other breeds? Also, can I have more than one type of duck in an aviary or will they inter breed? If say a wood duck mated with a mandarin duck, would it produce offspring? We're thinking of a large fully enclosed area (wire roof included) with nesting boxes and a large duck house, is this naieve? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Mandarins cannot breed with any other ducks so you are ok with them.
A fully enclosed area is ideal.
Dont forget something for them to swim in.
If they are pinoned they will require nest boxes on the ground with a ramp so they can gain access.
