Is there 2 types of mandarin duck
Because I have seen mandarin ducks & carolina/mandarin is this a cross

This is interesting...
Obviously Mandarin's are normal color and can be White and/or shades in between. Same with the Carolina Wood Duck.
And they are cousins. I think they are the only two in the Wood Duck category (genus?).

However, I've never seen pictures of a cross of the two. (There are several old threads on this topic, with pic's of birds entering eclipse being confused for a cross due to unique colors, etc.) And I've read/seen somewhere that it's not possible. But I've also seen reference to the two mixing during mating season. But I think the DNA is different and not possible.
