Both avacado and mango seeds can be sprouted by placing the seed in a damp (not wet) papertowel. Place the wrapped seed in an unsealed zippie bag in a warm window. Check for moisture buildup in the baggie ..open the bag more or fold over as the moisture condenses. Too much water will mold the seed. When you see a root, plant the seed in a pot root down. I use Miracle Grow) and barely cover the seed.

I do not peal the avacado seed.
The hairy shell on the mango seed can be removed carefully by using utility scissors to cut the edge and then opening like you would a clam.

I'm lazy, I wait til I buy one that's already sprouting inside the mango LOL

We've got a tree... small mangos, but so sour & SOOOOOOOOOOO good with salt!

Really? I know you're on the Mainland US somewhere, you can get mangoes to grow?

we used to take them green and slice them thin, and pickle overnight in vinegar, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and take it to school in a jar and share it around. If you wanted to be fancy you put red dye in there too.

I put the mango in a bag with damp paper towels because I didn't have a pot ready and I wanted to do it while the seed was still fresh. I took the seed out of the husk because it was already split. How long do they take to sprout?
