Manic Mice

THEY DONT! The cats dont stalk the birds, and anyways I notice if the cats linger too long in the hens vicinity, they get pecked.. Its really a non issue--and I have a big 15 lb tom cat that kills alot of rodents and 2 little 5 lb kittens that just killed their first mouse-- in the chicken yard....

Ours chases the chickens for sport. I think their size stops her from killing them. Also, I think it is understood they are mine and I am at the top of the chain. It is the same way the dog chases other cats but not ours and the cat eats sparrows but not chickens. Honestly w/o a broody hen I wouldn't trust my cat around babies until they are about 9 weeks.

Bringing in your kitten when you have hens with chicks will teach them not to mess with the chickens......don't put them in an enclosure with them just let them run around the farm in the spring and they will learn quick!
