Our only Australorp decided to fly up on the roof! I think she was trying to escape an amorous rooster. Not good. Some of you have seen our house, it's a geodesic dome, and the dog pen is on the other side of the house. Not good. So DBF and I were standing out by the dog pen, looking at our dear bird and biting our nails, when something startled her and she went crashing into the dog pen
I screamed, all four dogs charged, and the next thing I knew DBF was standing IN the dog pen, breathing hard and holding one very startled hen. The dogs and I were standing there totally astonished. Somehow, he saw her start to slide off and did some Olympic high jump over our 5' dog fence and then grabbed her as she hit the ground. It all happened so fast, I was still mid-scream. Apparently people can fly with enough motivation.
