manna pro gamebird feed

So you are the guy that is buying up all the quail feed at the store everytime I go there its out :p
What quails do you have? Mine are hatched from eggs from james marie farms (third generation now). I go to Sams to get feed too, when I can, I get the purina gamebird breeder for my quails, they seem to lay much better eggs with it. I feed them the 30% starter when young and fod the meat birds. What store in De Anza has feed? I'm trying to find all my local feed stores, and Sams is the only one with purina gamebird 30% I found.
It called An-Jan it's between stevens creek and 85 on de anza.

Half moon bay feed and fuel is another one if your up on the peninsula.

Is the Purina gamebird breeder different than the layena?
Couldn't say, I've never seen a bag called breeder. There will always be a nutritional values tag attached to one end of the bag by the laces. The protein percentage we all refer to is the crude protein percentage you can find on that tag.

Oh you guys are making me miss home! I know where all those stores you are talking about are! Can they all be on the same feed or do the chicks really need to be on a chick starter? Also, we want non medicated is that correct?

Non medicated is correct. Unless you are raising them next to a poultry farm or in a place you know that diseases like enteritis might be common.

Raising the chicks on starter is best. you don't gain by feeding them anything else because almost everywhere sells the starter for the same price as the the lower percentage feeds.

You can have the whole bay area back. I'll trade you places if you live anywhere that I can't see city lights or hear traffic lol.

the layena is the breeder. the store likes to call it breeder. its a 20% protein feed but formulated for egg laying. my birds produced nice strong eggs with it with almost no soft shells, unlike the starter where I get soft shells every week.

The layena has some infused calcium sort of like layer crumble for chickens, starter and flight conditioner don't have infused calcium. I prefer to feed calcium free feed and give oyster shell for calcium. Quail roosters do not need very much calcium and consuming too much calcium can cause their kidneys to fail.

Nah, you can keep the Bay Area. I got out for that reason and some others. I've looked at our two stores out here but can't find Starter higher than 18%. The regular game feed is 28% which I thought was weird. We have one more store to go check out to see if they have it.

I just found an An-Jan store in Milpitas right near my church. Very convenient. Bought just 4 lbs of the King Pheasant Crumble. They run out of 50 lbs bags at the moment. So I can just feed my quails with this from birth to adulthood then? (I know I have to grind them up to use as "stater")

Also learned that they have their own chicken lay pellets for $16.10 / 50 lbs, quite cheaper than my usual purchase in downtown. I can just go here from now on then.

Tony - what part of Bay Area are you in? I'm in North San Jose / Milpitas area.

Im in fremont. We have a feed store near me in hayward, but they dont care the purina 30 and 20% feeds, so I go to sams in sj. Does an jan have the purina?

No An-Jan does not carry Purina. Only King and another brand but apparently both from the same source. They have King Turkey and King Pheasant. At least their pheasant crumble is 28% compared to Kruse brand which I bought from Sam which is 24%. I may bring this 50 lbs of Kruse Pheasant Crumble back to Sam and exchange for Purina 30% if they carry them. How much does Sam charge for the Purina 30%?
