Manual coop to run door that locks

I see, thank you. I thought there was a locking mechanism that held it open. I really like this! So can you buy it or is it a DIY?

The door to my View attachment 4120029run is inside the coop. I had to go inside to open and close. There is a short skyway to the run, but the coop door could be lifted which concerned me.

Here is the new door which is opened from outside the coop by a cord. Once closed the door cannot be lifted, except via the cord.

Got the plans off YouTube. Very happy so far.

There is a far better and vastly simpler way of putting a lock on a pop door.

By putting a hinge on top of the door, and mounting a stop block (any ole scrap wood) a 1/2 inch above the door when it is down. If you pop door is flat up to the wall, you can cut out a notch from the hinge to drop into.

Tie the string to the hinge. When you pull up the string the hinge opens vertically and clears stop block/notch. When the door closes, the hinge also closes and sits underneath the stop block or sits inside the notch. If something trys to get in the hinge jams up the the stop block or inside the notch.

Use a nice heavy hinge that is at least twice the width of the door thickness.

Nice idea for a door. I still have the handle on the side pull door for mine doesn't lock without drilling a hole and using a pin or something. I might switch to this door when the time comes to replace it - only so many push pulls on that door before it will need it.
