Maple's kitten adventures...

Quote:
I had a Patches. She was one of my calico's first litter of kittens. She was a dark torti. Black patch over one eye orange over the other, just like her momma, MowMow aka Psycho Kitty. The rest of her was black and orange with a touch of white on her one paw. Momma was a white based cali. I still have one of the kittens from that batch. She turned 18 on the 10th of March.

Wow... 18 is an old kitty. We had one live up to 17...a boy named Fresco. He was orange on top, white on bottom and had dark orange swirls on his sides. He also had a snaggle tooth or like my dad used to call him, Ol crooked smile.

Our orange tabby female we rescued from my x's rental farm took a real liking to Ava...my youngest daughter who's 5 now. I couldn't believe that cat would tolerate a toddler but she did and she sought her out and would sit there and lick her with her stinky cat breath and sit and purr next to her while she watched a movie...and she'd take naps with her. Her name was Goldie and she died last fall and Ava was very upset...she still cries at times...especially when she's tired. Ava wants to name the orange one Goldie but I don't really want to. I like to give each animal a new name than using one that we've already had. I know it's her way of remembering Goldie but..I just can't get passed naming an animal a name of one we just had that just died. When she says...goldie just did this...I say, you mean patches?

This is Her Majesty--Butterscotch

Her littermate, Bashful, who we lost last May at age 17. She had sarcoma. She's also a torti but when she was born she only had little bits of orange on her cheeks. Like blush marks. As she got older she developed "rusty" spots, lol.

This is the "Fat Boy" he is 14. His real name is Mask as you can see by his markings, but he weighs 20lbs so the name stuck, lol. He just showed up on our doorstep on day and my dog at the time would not chase him away like the other cats that came in the yard. Guess that meant he was suppose to stay!

I've got 3 more kitties. Littermates with all the same birth defects of their eyes.

My neighbor rescued a black lab pup who was blind right before it was scheduled to be put down. He's a good dog...has his quirks but who doesn't?

Very lovely and loving looking animals you've got there, Coyote.

I had a fat boy but he was a ferret. And I'd pick him up like he was dancin and say, "fat boy is in duh howwwse." ha ha ha. I love that lil fat boy. Then I'd sing him Jewel's "Fat boy" song and he'd kiss me. "fat boy...fat boy...goes to the pool...sees his reflection and doesn't know what to do. He feels little on the inside and full of pride." Such a sweet boy. All my ferrets died of adrenal cancer so close together...so sad. I miss em.

I remember you showing Lunachick your Luna.

Love her color.

Thank you! Luna kitty is a sweetie. She comes into the room every now and then just to "check" on me. She'll come up to the side of the recliner, puts one paw on the chair and one on my arm and meows, "Mi mi?" Like she is questioning me. "You ok, Mom?" Animals are amazing!

Can't wait to watch these little ones grow!

Maple, I just love coming here and getting a kittie fix. I so love kittens. I'd love to be a baby rescuer but, don't seem to be able to master the giving them away part when they are well. So dh says "no more cats!".

We too have a big ole half feral tom that adopted us about 12 years ago. Most times he is the dh's cat but when I say time to go to the vet and snatch him up to put him in a cage he is docile like you wouldn't believe. I think he kinda likes being domesticated on his terms. On the other hand don't reach out to pet him or he will bite!

Thanks friends. It's still amazing to me that I've got such tiny babies here at the house. We are loving every minute of it!

I have a friend in Cali that is a foster kitten mama...she is raising 4 frisky ones now...I often thought that would be a cool thing to do...be a foster pet person for the animal shelters around here...if needed. I think when I get to my new digs and settle in, I'll call about it.

I've movin stuff to storage again... While we were outside loading up my girls found the wild catnip that had sprouted and put some on the floor of the bathroom and mama cat had some "mama" time. And she's layin on top of it purring.
