Besides the feed,what do they like to nibble on??

Stick to a feed that is formulated for chicks. Try not to give them anything else for the first 4 weeks. Provide chick grit if you feed or have fed anything else.
As for telling their gender, you probably won't know for a few more weeks. You can post photos in the gender section at around 8 weeks.
