I had an abysmal hen-to-roo ratio so I'm not quite ready to give up on this one. All the other roosters are painfully obvious covered in purple and green big bright red comb and wattles already growing no doubt about it roosters. My two pullets have pretty much zero wattles, though. I'm pretty sure this is a cockerel but am clinging to the last little shreds of hope before he catches up to the other roos. He's about 11 weeks old.

I'd say pullet
Okay, kin I change my answer? I like this one much more better!

Yes, it is a BC Maran. The other hens still have virtually no wattles and noticeably smaller combs than this one, but it is still exciting to hear there is a little chance.

I am very new to the Maran breed, but at 11 weeks old I would say you have a slow developing Roo. That is a huge comb for 11 weeks and the wattles are coming in. This is what my RIR roos looked like at 11 weeks.

My cuckoo marans looked like that at a young age, had tall combs and wattles, but they remained yellow/peach til recently. Now at 18 weeks they're finally reddening and growing, so I'm sure they'll be laying soon.

These middle-of-the-road birds are sure frustrating, aren't they?

It seems to have too much comb for a pullet, but not near enough color for a cockerel.

Any red/copper coming through on the wings? That would mean male.

Can we get a pic of the bird standing, profile shot? I'm leaning toward pullet, but will be interested to see how this one plays out
